I was talking to Fletch the other day and telling him about my adventures as the first female stock car driver to race against the men at Brighton Speedway. Obviously this was in my younger (and more foolish) days but it was something that I had to prove that I could do. I was the first female driver to take a checkered flag against the men during regular competition. I had an all female (blond) pit crew and my girls had lot of help from the other pit crews and very seldom had to get their manicures messed up. I still have the BIG $2.00 win that I got for my first place win (in the form of 2 one dollar bills…..a real keepsake). I met Allen at the race track and this year we will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. How’s that for a love story so close to Valentine’s Day??  Note from Fletch. Orpha could not find a photo of her driving, but here is my neighbor who drove in the 70’s as she did. Orpha is also taking the lead in organizing tickets sales for our raffle of a very sleek 1st prize Kayak (from ClearWaterDesign). 2nd prize is a Samsung Smart Wi-Fi Blu Ray Disc player from Frost Automotive.
