Baker Island was the place to be on the evening of Wednesday, October 11th as we held our Annual Awards Dinner.
There were lots of happy faces and reunions after over a month of not sailing and lots of talk about next year’s season (typical sailors). Special guests included Quinte West Mayor John Williams, Lt. Col. Colin Selkirk, Diane Gaffney of Scotiabank and long-time supporters Chris & Barb Matthews. A surprise guest came via video as Chief Instructor Alex Renaud talked about the past season and sent everyone a positive and exciting message for next season. Vanessa Watts message was delivered by her sister Laura who also was responsible for the great hall decorations.
We were fortunate to have many nice donated items for our Silent Auction and bidding was lively. Another highlight was music provided by Lois Thompson on the keyboards.
Along with our usual tasty appetizers, dinner and dessert, 9 awards were given out. They were as follows:
